Bringing Your Belongings In

Answer

The general rule applies to you

No exception is recorded for citizens of Bolivia on this topic. That is the answer, not a gap - everything below is the rule you get, unchanged.

81 exceptions recorded across 33 countries · none match Bolivia to Argentina · Bringing your belongings

Permanent residency unlocks a genuinely generous allowance: household and personal effects come in free of tax, new or used. Tools of your trade do not - they are taxable. And a used car registered in your name comes in exempt provided its customs value is no more than fifteen thousand dollars, which is the single most valuable line in Argentine customs for someone relocating.

Exempt up to USD 15,000 customs value

ARCA writes the ceiling as USD 15.000 in Spanish notation - fifteen thousand dollars of customs value - and taxes the whole value of anything above it.

Permanent residency

Requirements

  • Obtain permanent residency - the allowance attaches to that status, not to arriving
  • Personal and household effects, new or used, for you or your family: imported free of tax
  • Tools, machines, apparatus and instruments for your profession, art or trade: importable but subject to duty
  • One used car registered in your name: exempt if its customs value is at or below USD 15,000, or the equivalent
  • Quantity, nature and variety must not suggest a commercial purpose

What applies to you

Nothing changes for a citizen of Bolivia

We have no rule recorded that treats your citizenship differently here, so the general rule above is the one that applies to you. That is an answer, not a gap.

Standing: Applies the rule

Foreigners who obtain permanent residency in the Argentine Republic enjoy certain benefits for importing goods.

Permanent residency, not temporary. Someone on a rentista or worker permit is outside this until they convert.

Cuando su valor sea superior la totalidad de su valor quedará sujeto al pago de los tributos que gravan la importación para consumo.»

One car per person aged 18 or emancipated, used and registered in the applicant's name. It is exempt provided its customs value is less than or equal to USD 15,000 or its equivalent in another currency. Where the value is higher, the whole of it becomes subject to the duties on importation for consumption.

The ceiling is a cliff, not an allowance: a car worth more is taxed on its full value, not on the excess.

Practical notes

The benefit is tied to permanent residency, so the sequencing matters: most routes here start with a temporary permit, and shipping belongings before converting means shipping them outside the allowance.
