Citizens Canada exempts from the visitor visa

Not a bloc and not a treaty: a schedule to a Canadian regulation. Paragraph 190(1)(a) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations exempts a citizen of a country listed in Schedule 1.1 from the temporary resident visa, and the Schedule is a bare list of states with no condition attached to any of them.

**Of this corpus it reaches seven.** The Bahamas, Barbados and Chile from Latin America and the Caribbean; Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain from the European members we cover. Every other country here is either in the table to section 7.01 or in the visa class.

**Membership is a fact about the state, not about you**, and it changes by amendment. The Schedule has been amended seven times since 2017, and a state moved out of it lands in the table to section 7.01 rather than straight into the visa class.

Where it actually bites

Membership is one thing and what a destination does with it is another. These are the countries covered here that treat these nationalities differently, and on which question.

    About this source

Canada's consolidated federal statutes and regulations, served whole as plain HTML at a stable address built from the Act's chapter or the regulation's registration number. Each consolidation states the date it is current to and the last amendment applied.

Standing: Maintains the text in force

Cannot be cited for: The consolidations are official under the Legislation Revision and Consolidation Act, but the site itself warns that where a consolidation and the original statute differ, the original prevails. The date a page is current to is printed in a side panel our capture does not carry, so a stored reading here shows the text without the line that dates it. Immigration practice in Canada also sits largely in ministerial instructions and programme delivery guidance, which are not law and are not published here, and Quebec selects its own immigrants under an accord this site does not carry.

We re-read it every 60 days. More about this source
