Ministry of Labour and Social Security

Applies the rule

The ministry that issues work permits and work permit exemptions under the Foreign Nationals and Commonwealth Citizens (Employment) Act, issues and verifies Certificates of Recognition of Caribbean Community Skills under the Free Movement of Skilled Persons Act, and issues Marriage Exemption Certificates.

The body that applies the rule and decides applications. It publishes what it requires, which is authoritative about its own practice but is not the text of the law.

Cannot be cited for

It must not be cited for the list of qualifying Caribbean Community occupations: it publishes agricultural workers and private security officers, neither of which is in the Act's First Schedule as published. It states that the Caribbean Community has thirteen member states. It publishes no work permit fee at all, only that one is payable by the employer on approval. Its page is built of collapsed accordions, so an extraction service captures the headings and none of the content; it has to be read by a direct request.
