Admission Is the Condition, and Preparation Counts as Study
Answer
The general rule applies to you

A foreigner is issued a residence permit for full-time study at a state or state-recognised higher education institution, or a comparable body, if that institution has admitted them. Admission is the operative word: the permit follows the place. The purpose of study also covers preparatory measures and a compulsory internship, and the regulation names the two preparatory things it means - a preparatory language course where admission is conditional on it, and a Studienkolleg or comparable institution where the applicant has been accepted to one.

Germany's consolidated federal statute book, served as plain HTML with the whole Act on one page at a stable address built from its Bundesgesetzblatt number. Each Act carries a footer stating the amendment it is current to.
Standing: Maintains the text in force
Cannot be cited for: The portal states that the texts are not official and that the Bundesgesetzblatt governs. It is served as ISO-8859-1 with the charset in a meta tag, so a fetch assuming UTF-8 destroys every umlaut. Practical notes
A study permit is one of the purposes expressly excluded from counting towards naturalisation under section 10 of the citizenship Act, which the citizenship record carries.
Working alongside study is governed by other provisions and is not read here.
