Temporary Residency for Students
Answer
The general rule applies to you
No exception is recorded for citizens of Bolivia on this topic. That is the answer, not a gap - everything below is the rule you get, unchanged.
81 exceptions recorded across 33 countries · none match Bolivia to Uruguay · Residency as a student
Students get temporary residency for up to a year at a time, renewable, but capped at two years in total for the whole course - which is shorter than most degrees. The financial test is means of support sufficient for your maintenance, and it may be somebody else's money provided the relationship and the transfers are certified.
At a glance
- Grant
- Up to 1 year, renewable
- Total cap
- 2 years for the whole course
Shorter than most degree programmes, which the article does not address
- Financial test
- Means sufficient for maintenance
No published figure, as with Uruguay's other routes
- Third-party support
- Allowed, with the relationship proved
Requirements
- An official certificate from the educational institution; if it is private, a notarial certificate of the institution's existence and supervision as well
- Proof of means of support sufficient for your maintenance
- If the means are not your own, you may use a relative's, proving the relationship
- If the money comes from abroad, a notarial certificate stating the amount received, where it is collected and your relationship to the sender
- Granted for up to one year, renewable for equal periods, not exceeding two years for the whole course
- The same health documentation as every Uruguayan route: a vaccination certificate issued in Uruguay and a health card
What applies to you
Nothing changes for a citizen of Bolivia
We have no rule recorded that treats your citizenship differently here, so the general rule above is the one that applies to you. That is an answer, not a gap.
What the law says
«Este tipo de residencia se concede hasta por un año, prorrogable por iguales períodos, no excediendo los dos años del total de la carrera.»Our translation - not official
This type of residency is granted for up to one year, renewable for equal periods, not exceeding two years of the total course.
A two-year ceiling on a route meant for study is worth noticing before enrolling on anything longer. What happens in the third year of a four-year degree is not addressed on this page.

Standing: Applies the rule
Cannot be cited for: Like its Argentine counterpart this is the administering agency's own description rather than the law. Uruguay's statute deliberately leaves periods and procedures to regulation, so these pages can change without Ley 18.250 moving at all. The pages do carry their own última actualización date, which is more than most agencies offer.

«Si los medios de vida provienen del exterior, aportar certificado notarial donde conste el dinero que recibe del exterior, detallando monto, lugar donde percibe el giro y parentesco del que realiza el mismo.»Our translation - not official
If the means of support come from abroad, provide a notarial certificate stating the money received from abroad, detailing the amount, the place where the transfer is collected and the relationship of the person making it.
