Ministry of Legal and Constitutional Affairs

Maintains the text in force

The ministry leading Jamaica's constitutional reform, which publishes on its Road to Republic site a clean consolidated text of the Jamaica (Constitution) Order in Council 1962 updated to 2024, with amendment references in the margins. It is the only readable consolidated Constitution the Government publishes: the Ministry of Justice copy is a recognition of a scan whose Chapter II pages were authorised in 2001.

Maintains the current text of the law as amended, so you can read a provision as it stands today rather than reconstructing it from amendments.

Cannot be cited for

It must not be cited for a cut-off in the Constitution's own words. The file carries no page-authorisation notices and no statement of the date it is current to; the latest amendment in its margins is Act 10 of 2023 and the only claim to currency is the name of the file. It is published for a reform programme rather than as the statute book, so it should be read beside the Ministry of Justice edition rather than instead of it.
